Me, Myself and I: Current Beauty Obsessions

Me, Myself and I: Current Beauty Obsessions
By Beaut.ie  | Jan 14, 2010

I've got a few beauty obessions on the go at the moment (when haven't I, eh?) and I thought I'd share. Not all of them are new though, because the recent cold has me reaching back to my MAC Studio Fix foundation and God, I haven't used it in over a year at this point, ditching it in favour of Diorskin Nude, followed by Giorgio Armani Lasting Silk UV and then my current Nars Sheer Glow. But I dunno, I felt like my skin needed an extra level of protection and as it's got a more-than-medium level of coverage it felt good to wear during the recent cold snap. Once things lighten up wearther-wise, so will my base.

Humidifying's been on my mind too: 24/7 central heating has really dried out my phizog and I have bowls of water by the radiators to make sure some moisture gets into the air, and therefore, my skin. They're pretty bowls, worry not: I bagged 'em in Philosophie in New York, so I'm getting my hydration in style.

Actually, I'm doubly getting it on in style: that very very pretty pot, bottom left, is Guerlain's new Orchidée Impériale New Generation. Lots of in-depth scientific research has gone into this cream that's designed to stimulate and promote cell-longevity. The price? Oh, a sweet little €350. Yup.

What's next?

Next point of obsessive attention? My brows. We all know brows R US season and there'd rarely be a day in which I don't groom them anyway,  but recently I'm all about the filling-in and powdering and extending, mostly courtesy of my amazing Clarins brow kit. Oh Clarins brow kit, how I love thee.

Lastly? Oh this is a new crush. Rachel McAdams' makeup in Sherlock Holmes is fab: think lots of satin-finished chocolate-brown shadow blended way above the crease and smudged on the lower lashine, accessorised with cranberry lips. The pic does not do it justice but I couldn't find any shots where you could really see how nice it is on. It's like Victorian Smokey and boy, it's dramatic and very pretty.

I channeled the look on Tuesday with a slightly shimmery cool brown shadow from one of my Bobbi Brown palettes - not quite right but the shade used on Rachel in the film is too warm for me. I wanted to look fab, not frazzled - which brown shadow so can easily do. Cranberry  lips came courtesy of Smashbox's fab Double Take lip pencil in a deep, dark red.

So, that's me - what are you lot currently obsessed with, beauty-wise?
