When ye olde queen in Snow White was fishing for compliments in her mirror, she could hardly have predicted that a beauty company would one day come up with a device into which you could not only admire yourself, but which would then map your face, and then show it back to you all be-gorgeousised.

But that's exactly what Shiseido has done in Japan: a magic mirror in a department store scans your features and allows you to try on different colours and products to see if they'd be a fit. It can also suggest thing it thinks would suit you, and can give you a printout of its suggested products. With varying results, I think you'll agree, if you check the video out above.

It, er, looks a bit crap now to be honest. And I have to say, I don't think the queen herself'd be too overwhelmed with the results either, eh? Asking the fateful, "mirror mirror, on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?" might have a come-back of "Queen, with your ill-applied shadow, you look totes appall."

So, should this come to a beauty hall near you, would you use it?
