Pretty In Pink: 10 Lipsticks You'll Love

Pretty In Pink: 10 Lipsticks You'll Love

Red has undoubtedly been the shade dominating the runways this season in terms of lip colour but today I’m not thinking of red, I’m on more of a pink buzz having been inspired by the looks created for designers such as Derek Lam and Aquilano Rimondi for their SS15 runway shows.

(But if you are a devotee of the red lip, you can check out more scarlet reviews and tips here).

For most, pink is thought to be that little bit more youthful and wearable when it comes to every day make-up but of course, with the right shade you can make just as much of an impact as with a red lipstick.

So, whether you’re following the current trends or looking for something that’s going to work within your own routine I’ve put together some of my favourite pink lipsticks, but as always, do be sure to let me know if I’ve missed out any of your favourites down in the comments!

Fuchsia lipstick with its mix of pink and blue tones is great for perking up paler complexions without looking too jarring.

MAC's Girl About Town and Rimmel Moisture Renew lipstick in Back To Fuchsia (€6.99) will give lips a lovely sheen but if you're more of a matte texture fan check out Top Shop All About Me (€10)  or NARS Shiap (€26) which have rich, opaque finishes.

To get the best results from your matte lipsticks, always ensure you've prepped lips first by buffing the skin and applying either a primer or a touch of lip balm for a super smooth application (and you'll find more top lip tips here).

If the brighter shades appeal to you but on-the-hour lip checks don't, then sheer shades are the answer.

Balmy textures are always really popular for summer as they give a similar shine without the stickiness of a gloss - plus, you can top up on the go without having to worry too much about precision.  L'Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipstick in Pink Fashionista (€11.99) and Lancôme Lip Lover in Rose Ballet (€22) are beautiful shades but I'm also a big fan of Shy Honey from Clinque's Almost Lipstick collection (€20) and the delicately glittered Clarins Jolie Rouge Brilliante Perfect Shine lipstick #8 (€23).

I often think that Rose/lip toned lipsticks are a bit like a good pair of jeans - always useful to have but it can be the tricky to find your perfect match.

Bobbi Brown's Rouge Pot in Pale Pink (€22) is a particularly nice shade for anyone looking for a flush of colour and can be used on cheeks as well as lips to give a unity to your make-up. Make Up Forever's Rouge Artist Palettes (€39) are also a good bet for those who like to mix and match their shades coming in a variety of 5 tone options.
