SS10: Michael Kors Very Hollywood Colour Collection for Estee Lauder

SS10: Michael Kors Very Hollywood Colour Collection for Estee Lauder
By Beaut.ie  | Dec 23, 2009

When I first heard about the forthcoming line of makeup from Michael Kors (he of fragrance, leg shine and Project Runway), I assumed it was a supplementary 'n fancy range Estee Lauder were bringing out in addition to their regular spring launch. But nope, this here baby is it, and it's gorgeous. I previewed the lot a few weeks ago now and it managed to reduce a room full of hardened, sharpened beauty hacks into swatching and shrieking girlies, so well played, Mr Kors.

Packaging is on the right side of kitsch - chunky, beige with gilded accents - and there is an unmistakable sun-kissed 70s influence here - but we can accept a nod to the era of mai-tais, turbans, maxi dresses and flares when formulations are as nice as these.

The collection has two strands - like most Estee Lauder ones - and above you can see the pretty Rodeo Pink suite of products which contains the super-sweet Lip Gloss in Bungalow Pink and Starlet Rose, €21 each. Lining up beside them are two Lip Sheen SPF15's also in Bungalow Pink and Starlet Rose, €23 a pop, and then we've got two compacts. The Eyeshadow Duo in Night Star contains the ingredients for a dramatic eye and will set you back €27. Then there's that vibrant Blush in Sunset Pink, €33, Eye Pencil in Film Noir, €21, and a Nail Lacquer in Bungalow Pink, €17.

I'm totally tickled by the bungalow refs - should Mr Kors have ever travelled through rural Ireland and clocked all those pre-planning bung-a-lows he'd be of a different opinion as to how glam single storey houses can be, I'd wager.

But we're not done yet - oh no. There's one more line to check out, Bel Air Beige, and it's after the cut.

While Rodeo Pink is completely my favourite, Bel Air Beige is very Ali McGraw - therefore, also very nice. Corals and beiges abound and we're really starting to see coral and peach as a huge trend for Spring Summer (check out Bobbi Brown's Cabana Corals and Lancome's forthcoming L'Absolou Creme de Gloss if you don't believe me) so you can jump on the bandwagon with pretty much all of this little lot.

From left, lets kick off with four products that sit between, and compliment both Rodeo Pink and Bel Air Beige. So we have Lipsheen SPF15  and Lip Gloss in Hollywood Gold, €23 and €21 each, Michael Kors Very Hollywood Face Brush, €29, Michael Kors Very Hollywood Shimmering Loose Powder, €39.

Following that are the Bel Air Beige products proper: two Lip Glosses in Starlet Peach and Honey Blonde, €21, are complemented by a duo of Lipsheen SPF in matching shades, €23, and an Eyeshadow Duo in Blonde Minl, €27 and Blush in Sunset Coral, €33. Lastly there are the Eye Pencil in Sepia, €21, and a nail lacquer in Hollywood Gold, €17.

All will land on counter at Brown Thomas stores from February 1st 2010 and basically, this stuff is good enough to eat. What say you? Will you be making any purchases?
