The seven best new foundations of 2016

The endless hunt for the world's perfect foundation is one known to most - if not all - women. And that's no exaggeration.

I, for one, am forever chopping and changing my foundation to try to achieve a perfect skin. You also have to take into account how skin changes with the environment, with the weather, with diet, age and stress levels; the list goes on and on.

It's hard to believe it, but tons of new foundations have hit shelves already this year. Here are the seven new foundations that I think have the potential to be classics.

  • Giorgio Armani Mastro Glow

When they say "glow" they certainly mean it with this foundation. On my acne scarred and open pored face, I can't say it did much for me, but for those of you with already perfect skin and who just want that summer glow, this might be the one for you.

  • Nars Velvet Matte Skin Tint

This one is great for a combination skin; it has special mattifying technology that keeps that t-zone shine under control. However, it isn't chalky like most matte finish foundations.

  • Bourjois City Radiance

City Radiance is light, glowy yet long wearing. It can withstand humidity so it's definitely one for the holidays.

  • Laura Mercier Candlelight Glow

I just have this penchant for Laura Mercier products, I think its because I used work for the brand over in Australia. Anyway, this foundation is supposed to recreate the effect of soft candlelight on your skin so you can look softly lit at any time of the day.

  • L'Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion

These cushion type foundations have been embraced by most of the brands this year. They are essentially sponge seeped in foundation to give you a less messy way to use your foundation. They are usually quite sheer in coverage with a natural finish, and are buildable - great for women on the go or for summertime fresh faces.

  • MAC Matchmaster Compact

This one is more or less the same only made by MAC!

  • Urban Decay Naked Skin One and Done

The optical blurring effect in this one is fab! Especially for all of you who have skin like mine: it reduces the appearance of fine lines, open pores and uneven texture in a natural summer kind of way.

Have you tried any of these? Let us know what you think.
