Poll! We Need To Talk About The Fringe

Poll! We Need To Talk About The Fringe

From the red carpet to the high street, fringing is taking centre stage for spring. It's a trend that seems to always surface at festival time, thanks to its nod to the 1970s and something a little bohemian, but not in 2015. Just before Christmas we saw its revival hit the red carpet. Julianne Moore opted for a plunging sequin and fringed gown for the premiere of The Hungar Games Mocking Jay, and Nicki Minaj followed suit at the Grammy's last week. And you'll obviously see that the two dresses were not too dissimilar.

Ah, a trend is forming and it's not just gowns. Scarlett Johansson has been taking a liking to fringed mini-dresses and it's this look that seems to be taking the high street by storm, from separates to accessories.

Now, it's safe to say that some of these pieces will be more suitable to a warmer climate, but once the sun arrives (whenever that is) fringing is a relaxed, chilled out feature to add to an outfit. Lace tops will a key feature for high summer, especially from the online retailers like ASOS and Boohoo.

I particularly like the kimono style light jackets and silk cover ups from Zara and Penneys which will look chic with a plain top and jeans, finished with some gold sandals and plenty of bangles! If you are jetting off somewhere sunny, then fringed shorts and skirts are the perfect choice. Try a long line jacket over these to make it ideal for evening time too.

But, this one is all down to how you think you can add a little fringing to your wardrobe. So, let's take a vote! Is fringing a practical trend for Spring Summer, or should it stay at festivals? Ladies, it's over to you.
