Trend Spotting with Bestseller: Stay Ahead of the Style Pack with our Sneak Peek at AW14. Vero Moda, Vila and More

I go to a lot of fashion events to check out the latest and next season wares, but very rarely am I treated to several high street brands in a showcase. So when those nice evenings pop up, I'm there faster than you can say Proenza Schouler (try saying that one after a long day).

Last night I was privy to some amazing new season collections under the Bestseller umbrella. These guys manage brands like Vero Moda, Vila, Only, YAS and Pieces. All names with which we are very familiar from our Saturday shopping expeditions, and one thing that always draws me to these brands are their trends which are affordable and well made.

I remember shopping in Vero Moda when I was a teenager, and always finding something I loved. The same goes for Vila (I used to get my Mum to drive me to Carlow to the nearest store at the time, I was dedicated, so I was).

So if you are really well organised and want to get ahead of the game with your outfits, what should you watch out for?

Vila's current season and next season (landing in shops from September) will be very feminine and ethereal.

The colour is nice and bright - white stays for next season, and mint green, candy floss pink and an eye-opening red will have you excited across lots of separates such as casual short blazers, pea coats and soft wool knits.

Embracing our inner "urbanite", Vila's monochrome look is certainly edgy and a personal favourite of mine. Watch out for the stone and red stripe full length cardigan come September, when you see it you will thank me!

Vero Moda's winter is certainly promising, especially having seen their selection of PU leather jackets arriving over the summer in alternative shades like blue and wine. The parka will be a key piece (although we might need these sooner rather than later as we are in festival season), as well as the printed trouser which is not just for the warmer months.

Back to the current season and high summer, and Bestseller brands are keeping to trends with fondant/pastel colours, styled with blocks of white, coloured leather, and plenty of prints. And don't forget the reliable trench coat which is the perfect trans-seasonal top layer for those unwelcome rainy and windy days.
