We've taken a look at Chanel's spring collection and their summer launch hits counters at the end of May - but not to one to rest on their double-C emblazoned laurels, they've also managed to squeeze in something rather lovely in between.
Collection Avant-Premier De Chanel is inspired, poetically, by 'the fragile grace of movie icons'. It comprises eight shades of Chanel Rouge Coco Shine lipstick, and six new shades of Rouge Coco Shine, accompanied by four shades of Le Vernis.
One lipstick shade, Rouge Coco Shine in Saga, and one nail polish, the peachy-toned Starlet, are limited edition, while the others will join the permanent line.
I have two of the nail colours to show you today: Paparazzi is a soft bronzey plum with a very subtle gold shimmer, while Cinema is a beautiful 'Old Hollywood' red with a touch of orange. Both applied smoothly and easily and have a glossy, high shine finish (though they're pictured here with a topcoat of Seche Vite).

The lipsticks are what I tend to think of as classic Chanel shades - elegant, classic and wearable - although I know the golden beige tones of Ingenue won't be to everyone's tastes. I love it though, especially worn with warm, bronzey tones like I am here. It has the soft, balmy texture and translucent finish that's the hallmark of the Rouge Coco Shine range.
As for Rouge Coco in Liaison, it's probably the prettiest pink I've clapped eyes on and I can't imagine any woman not falling for its charms. Warm toned, with a soft satin finish, it's also incredibly easy to wear and not remotely drying on the lips.
Plus, thanks to a new formula, the new shades have 30% more pigment but don't sacrifice any of the moisture or shine of the original lines.
