August 28th is the day for looking into your mirror, mirror, ladies: that's the day that Guerlain's autumn winter collection arrives on counter in suitably elegant style. And this season the brand has decreed that it's pretty much going to be all about the eyes and lips. Nails - not even getting a look in if the model shot's anything to go by.
The overall look is old-school glam - a satin-finished creme red lip and a smokey eye, so it's one that's gonna find favour with a lot of us. Lets take a look at the individual products, shall we?
Rouge G de Guerlain, €39.50, will come in three new shades, Garconne, above, that bright true red; Gigolo, a plum and Girly, "a pink that is less innocent than it appears." Intrigued. Does it take you round the back of the bike shed and show you its pants?
Now, a word for anyone who reckons €39.50 is a disgraceful price to pay for a lump of wax and pigment: it is. But this baby isn't all about the finish; the package is just as important. Pictures never do Rouge G's justice but much like the more recent Rouge Automatique lipsticks, these were cooked up in the mind of a James Bond Q type, with hidden mirrors and spring-loaded clasps that open to gasps of amazement. In handbag candy terms, these are the Godiva chocolate of beauty. If you're a lipstick fan, save yourself a fiver a week to get your paws on one - I recommend a red.

This sweet-lookin' treat is one of eight new Ecrin 4 Couleurs shadow palettes which will cost (yikes) €51 each. This is 09 Les Noirs (Blacks) and there will also be 01 Les Violets (Violets), 04 Les Bois de rose (Rosewoods), 06 Les Fumes (Smoky), 02 Les Bleus (Blues), 05 Les Gris (Greys), 07 Les Cuirs (Leather), 03 Les Verts (Greens) and 08 Les Perles (Pearl). I've only got a not great shot of the lot of 'em, but it'll give you an idea:

Gaze upon its ways! This is liquid eyeliner, in 05 Brun Cendre, and it's €32. I've never used a Guerlain liquid liner so have no idea what this is like - but oh me oh my, (as Joe Dolan - God rest him - might say), look at that bottle.
There's also a pencil liner, Eyeliner & Kohl, €21.50, in three shades in-coming. 20 Khol Me Navy, 30 Khol Me Ebony and 40 Khol Me Jungle will launch with the collection.
