New from mascaro-maestros Max Factor is False Lash Effect. At €14.99, it's about half the price of a luxury product, and claims to give you the look of falsies without the hassle.
So, does it live up to its name? Nope, is the answer, but that's not to take from the fact that it's a good product in other respects. I think we all take mascara claims with a bit of a knowing eye-roll these days - since Penelope Cruz was revealed to be, er, actually wearing fake lashes in the ad for L'Oreal Telescopic - so I don't necessarily think Max and his Factor should be blown out of the water for the name. Because for a daytime lash-coater, this is pretty good. A fat, tactile tube and big chunky wand make it easy to grip and use, and the brush - a spiky plastic hedgehog - coats and separates lashes well.
I didn't find that my lashes were dramatically enhanced as they are with Lancome's Oscillation - a true wonder mascara - but the product is nicely black, nicely defining and nice and stay-put, too. Buy from chemists and department stores.
