Maybelline Define-A-Lash Volume

See the way in the picture there the mascara brush is pink? Well I was very disappointed to discover that in real life (or at least in the tube I got), this is not the case. The pinkness of the packaging is what got my attention in the first place, and when I saw the pink brush, I wanted it even more. So imagine my disappointment on discovering a boring black brush when I went to use it?

Yes, there's probably more to mascara than the colour of the brush, but when the mascara itself is as disappointing as Define-A-Lash-Volume, then the false advertising regarding the brush colour just seems to add insult to injury. Maybelline touts this mascara as our solution for clump-free (it has a unique, built-in clump remover, apparently - I think every other mascara just refers to this as the neck of the tube), voluptuous and refined lashes. I just found it wet and sticky - there were no clumps, but instead my lashes were stuck together. Is that what they meant by increased volume? I used a lashcomb to comb through right after application to separate my lashes, but instead of looking defined and volumised, they just looked spiky and ... not much else.

Is there anything good about it? Well, the black colour I tried is a very nice, inky black shade. Oh and I like the pink tube. But that's about it. Sorry Maybelline. If you bring Full'n'Soft back to Ireland, all is forgiven.
