Scratch 'n' sniff makes a comeback... in nail polish

revlon scented polishes

It's been a while since a scratch 'n' sniff type product caught my eye.

Probably the guts of 20 years, in fact, when scented fancy paper was the most highly-prized item a girl could have in her posession in primary school.

When I heard about the Scents of Summer fragranced nail varnish collection from Revlon, which was released in March (€9), I immediately thought of those little headache-inducing sheets of paper: childish and a bit of a novelty, but something you wouldn't exactly rock up to the office with of a Tuesday.

Scented nail varnishes themselves aren't exactly a new idea, but it seems they've been making a bit of a quiet comeback in recent times. Revlon have done a line of them in the States for the last couple of summers, while Rimmel have had this side of the world covered with their I Love Lasting Finish Fruities range (UK only, sorry ladies!).

These newer formulations claim that their fragrances are longer-lasting then their predecessors of yore, and are intended to appeal to those who can't stand the smell of regular nail polish as well as fad-hungry teens and teenyboppers.

Seriously, though. Can you imagine the looks you'd get if you were caught absentmindedly sniffing your fingertips in public?
