Yikes - Scary Sunburn Figures Released

Lobster

While we're in no immediate danger of getting too much sun on the home-front, recent research conducted by the peeps at AfterBURN Sunburn Rescue Gel has uncovered some rather alarming findings. They asked 2000 Irish people about their sunbathing habits, and a whopping 45% of those surveyed admited to regularly putting themselves at risk by using below the recommended minimum sun protection factor of 12. Half of those polled admitted to waiting till their skin feels hot before getting out of the sun, and a further 50% said they stayed out in the sun for too long, just to improve their holiday tan. 30% would consider coming home from a holiday sans tan a disappointment, too.

But perhaps most worringly, 50% of all adults surveyed only ever use sun cream when on holiday and almost 30% believe they are less likely to get burnt at home than when abroad. UV rays have increased hugely over the past 10 years due to climate change and ozone depletion, and it's easier than ever to burn. No matter where you are.
