Feuding couple Paul and Niamh have it out tonight in a Fair City first

It's all kicking off tonight in Carrigstown as Fair City have their first ever two-hander episode which will see Paul and Niamh going head to head.

Fans of the soap will know that the drama has been building for months between the married couple as Niamh discovered that Paul was cheating on her once again and decided to take him for every penny that he was worth, and then sure she ended up having an affair of her own.

Paul already found out about Marcus this week and the couple has been spitting abuse at each other since as Niamh has told Paul she wants a divorce and custody of Ruth. The last we saw of them, things were getting violent between the pair as Paul demanded to know what else Niamh was hiding from him, and it's all set to kick off tonight as he discovers the web of lies their marriage has been the past few months.

The two are set to have it all out with things going from hatred, to despair, to passion and ultimately, well, quite the intense finale, with the drama set to continue into tomorrow night's episode.

Speaking about the episode, Clelia Murphy, who plays Niamh said: "I was really excited when I read the script because this is the first time Fair City has filmed a two-hander episode - so, I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to be part of that. I think it's a really nice way to bring it all together. After weeks of lies and deceit the storyline reaches a crescendo when Paul and Niamh have it out, face-to-face, and lay all their cards on the table. It was pretty intense filming some of the scenes. Both Tony and I put everything into it, so, I really hope people at home enjoy watching the outcome. Will this finally be the end of the road for Paul and Niamh? Who knows? But one thing is for sure, Niamh won't go down without a fight."

Tony Tormey who plays Paul Brennan added: "I was delighted when I heard we were going to be filming Fair City's first two-hander episode. We haven't done anything like this before and it was quite an emotional week of filming, but it's always exciting to try new things. It's been such a great storyline to play over the last few months. We wanted to give it our all, so, I really hope everyone at home enjoys watching it. It's make or break time for Paul and Niamh. In Paul's mind, he and Niamh belong together, sure they have had their fair share of problems, but they always come back to each other. He cheated with Hayley and Niamh cheated with Marcus - you could say they're even now, they can just draw a line under it and move on. But as we know things are never that simple in soap."

Catch Fair City tonight on RTE1 at 8 pm.
