Foundation Class

I'm pretty low-rent when it comes to foundation, I've used Max Factor products for years with occasional forays off to rival brands when something catches my fancy on telly. Yes, advertising does work, and I am the living proof. I've never really found anything that can compete long term with Max Factor Lasting Performance. (it's the one that's not supposed to come off on your clothes. It comes off on your clothes). What appeals to me about it is that a little goes a long way and the coverage is excellent. It lasts as well. Put it on in the morning and it's still mostly there in the evening.

I've tried a few others recently, one of them being Maybelline's Dream Matte Mouse - and it's actually not bad at all. You do need to make sure you've moisturised really well before you put it on though, to ensure smooth coverage. A small dab of loose power sets it well and it lasts for a reasonable amount of time.

After being suckered by the ad campaign for Max Factor's Flawless Perfection, I of course went out and bought it immediately. It's pretty good if you're going for a dewy finish - it's a two step product with a primer you apply first, and then a foundation over the top. Sounds great, except for the fact that the primer has the consistency of Pollyfilla, smells horrible and stings slightly. Yeuch. But if you can be bothered to be precise and apply similar amounts of each liquid, and spend time blending, it does give a nice dewy finish. In addition, there's a sunscreen in the primer, and that's always a plus.

I usually finish my foundation with a dab of Benefit's High Beam on my cheekbones and browbones, and dab a teeny amount of loose power all over to set it.
