And Here Come the Boys: Best and Worst Dressed GQ Gentlemen (Hey, Jamie, Benedict, Mr Firth - Call Me...)

The GQ Men of the Year Awards took place last night, with a list of winners as long as your arm (Kim K won Best Woman. I despair). And we've looked at some of the gĂșnas on the red carpet earlier today. But when it came to the gentlemen, who got it right on the red carpet?

When it's black tie or a formal event, it can be hard for the menfolk to inject a bit of personality into an outfit, but at the same time they want to make sure that they don't just end up mixed in as one of the drones on the floor, dressed in a penguin suit with no imagination.

That balance is a hard one to strike, but there were plenty of options on show last night on the red carpet as the great and the good gathered for the GQ Men of the Year awards. Jamie Dornan showed that you don't have to stick to the 'black' in black tie, while Peter Capaldi decided he didn't need the tie part either.

When it comes to pulling off a traditional look in style, Colin Firth gets full marks (as always), while Stanley Tucci's suit was one of our favourites of the night. Gerard Butler was also dressed incredibly well, while both Oliver Chesire and David Gandy managed to put together some modern takes on the classic tux, and it would be difficult to beat them when it comes to 'Best Dressed'.

As for those who could have done with taking one, last look in the mirror before walking out the door? Well, Lewis Hamilton's camo tux jacket and high tops just didn't work (and just quietly, his eyebrows are beautifully shaped, non?), while Pharrell chose to let his hat do the talking with a very casual outfit that might not have been his finest moment. He so often gets it right, but we have a feeling he might look back on this one and think that he could have thrown something a bit better together.

Check out the Gallery below for a look at some of the best and worst dressed of the evening, and some of the comments on each individual look in the caption.

So tell us, do you want to wrestle us for Jamie or are you happy to go eyebrow threading with Lewis?
