Beaut Jacket Edit: The Blazer

Last week we talked about the long line coat (aka the duster coat) and watch Xposé this week, as my post had me all inspired so it did. But now we need to talk classic. The old reliable, never fail, timeless style: the blazer.

I'm a fan, actually beyond a fan, as I've lost count of how many I have. I LOVE THEM. Shouty capitals needed. An office wardrobe requirement has evolved into a chic casual piece that even my idol loves it on her off-time (eh, Kate Moss, you should know that by now!).

You can opt for the traditional black if you so wish, but Spring Summer has us thinking about colour and what better way to spruce up your outfit with a rainbow of new season shades!

The blazer has a universal shape that suits one and all. But do watch for the length. A longer style blazer (between the hip and tops of your thighs almost falls into the long jacket category). The optimum length is at your hip bone. It maintains proportion, and without stating too much of the obvious, it separates your body in two.

If you have a long torso, avoid a long lapel and try a three-quarter length sleeve for balance. If you want to elongate your top half, watch out for styles without buttons and with a narrow, long lapel (this gives the illusion of length and we like a bit of magic at beaut.ie).

So that brings us to our latest poll? Is the blazer just for work or can we be crazy in love with it like Beyoncé? Let the people speak!
