I feel like when children get ready to go back to school, something sparks in us that tells us to go and get a "back to work" wardrobe, even though we've been working the whole time.

Around this time of year, I have found ladies tend to contact me looking for workwear clothing solutions. But honestly girls, we don't need to start getting out the winter work wardrobe just yet. Your work wardrobe does not have to be full of dark colours. We veer towards black and navy when it comes to dresses and suits, but you can definitely add in some new season colours like a rich red or burgundy to change it up. Red works beautifully with navy, so try the dress above under your suit blazer. Dresses are such an easy styling option for work; one item you pop on. Simple.

You can also wear a collared shirt or blouse under these to cover your arms if you are a bit chilly. The look is preppy, lovely and very Alexa Chung if you ask me. You can also layer a sleeveless jacket over your suit instead of wearing the classic coat while it's still summer.

When it comes to work wear, you don't have to conform to the suit look. Separates can provide you with a lot more freedom to create your own style and you don't need loads of clothes to do that. A good jacket, skirt, trousers, dress and a few tops are all you need to get started!
