Some birthdays are memorable for all the wrong reasons.

On the morning of my 25th, for example, I suddenly noticed - for the very first time - that the lines across my forehead were no longer temporary. Seemingly overnight, they had become a permanent fixture in my face that could no longer be erased just by relaxing my features. The shock was incredible.

On my 27th birthday, I realised with horror that the lines around my eyes didn't simply disappear when I quit smiling or squinting, and frankly things have only gone downhill from there. Downhill in a crepey direction.

The saving grace for my eye area has mostly been Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Gold eye capsules, €43. They seem to just melt right into the skin without ever feeling heavy or and instantly rehydrate, softening fine lines and generally smoothing out the area. The fact that they're an oil rather than a cream means I've never had a problem with puffiness or milia while using these little golden capsules of goodness.

Oh, and because they're a little on the spendy side, I make each one last longer by using a pin to make a small hole in the top of them rather than twisting off the top completely!
