From Cult Classic to New Arrivals, Our 5 Fav Red Lippies

Trends ebb and flow when it comes to certain shades of lipstick, but a classic, bold red lip? Well, that's quite simply, timeless.

Here at Beaut, we love a statement lip colour so I've gathered up some current favourites, a couple of which are confirmed cult classics, others are the new kids on the block.

The one thing they have in common is that they are sure to get you noticed this New Years Eve whether you're feeling a little bit vintage, channeling your inner Marilyn Monroe, going for more of a modern Taylor Swift vibe or just keeping things simple by adding a few coats of mascara.

Wet n Wild MegaLast "Red Velvet" - Cheap as chips and twice as nice, isn't that the phrase? For €2.99 you can't go wrong really, especially if you're not sure that red is for you. The Megalast lipsticks are a particular favourite in the beauty community thanks to their high pigment and colour pay off but low price tag.

As with all matte colours though, I'd suggest prepping lips with a little balm first to avoid them feeling dry later in the night.

Clarins Jolie Rouge #742 - The first "proper" lipstick I ever bought was a beautiful red shade from Clarins just like this so I had a bit of a soft spot for it from the get go. The formula is rich and hydrating and over all, feels and looks like a grown up sort of product that would look great with a classic LBD and a winged liner. (€22)

Catrice "Striking M-Attitude" - The Alluring Reds collection was only reviewed last week and I'm already banging on about them again so you know something must be right. I love the shades, feel and wear of these lipsticks plus the packaging (I forgot I had one in my handbag and unlike some lippies, the lid always stayed on!).  (€5.49)

Rimmel The Only One "Best of the Best" - If you're looking for a dupe of more high end red lipsticks then you're in safe hands with this one from Rimmel which, although only new on the market, has been a smash hit so far. The "Best of the Best" is a bright, yet also rich shade and the formula feels comfortable for hours, which is particularly handy come NYE! (€8.99)

Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick "Passion" - One of my all time, favourite lipsticks and the epitome of luxury within the world of red lips. Who wouldn't want a Chanel lipstick? (€36)
