Beaut.ienomics: Sainsbury's Active Naturals Ginger and Lemongrass Body Polish

Being a much bigger fan of in-shower body scrubs to leave my skin moisturised than a follower of lotions, I'm always on the look out for a new one.

And by gum, I've found something completely yummy. It's Ginger and Lemon Body Polish and it's from Sainsbury's Active Naturals Range. Yep, you'll only get it up north, but it's well worth picking up if you happen to be up for the IKEA/vodka run anyway, plus, it's part of a 16-strong line that's durty cheap and contains loads of bath and body goodies.

As a dupe for Origins' waaaaaay more expensive Incredible Spreadable Scrub, it's not bad. Ok, I won't mislead you - for the €30-odd you'll spend on the Origins fella, you get a gorgeous product that leaves skin smelling unbelievably nice, and coated with a moisturising film of scented oil. At £2.99, sure poor auld Sainsbury's couldn't compete with that.

What it does have going for it, so? Price is an obvious factor, so you can use this daily instead of reserving it for special occasions; scent-wise, it's almost identical to Incredible Spreadable, so it's an uplifting way to start the day, and while it doesn't have that unctuous, sea-salt and oil-packed consistency of its expensive cousin, being more like a thick gel, it does have salt in it - meaning you get a nice exfoliation.

Any downsides? Yes - one really irritating thing is the nozzle just isn't big enough, so squeezing is a bit of a pain. I could of course make it bigger with a knife, but it would be good to see a wider bore so you can blob enough out without having to crush the tube to within an inch of its life.
