How to stay frizz free in the sun

How to stay frizz free in the sun

There are two types of women in the world when it comes to being on holidays.

There are the ones that can let hair their dry naturally with beachy waves and little to no effort, and there are those who look like Monica from friends in Barbados as soon as they get off the plane.

I, unfortunately, am the latter.

But you don’t have to dread your hair situation when you are going away. Holidays are meant to be about having fun and relaxing and not worrying about how to tame the mane.

There are some easy things you can do to keep that frizz at bay when you are in humidity.

Here are our best tips:

Don’t over wash it

With sun creams and sand and sweat during the day, it can be so refreshing to wash your hair every day while you’re away. But as counterintuitive as it sounds, by washing your hair every day you are stripping it of its natural oils and moisture which can make it dry, brittle and… frizzy.

Make sure it's dry

If you do wash your hair, make sure it is 100% dry before leaving. This will make it more resistant to humidity. Regardless of thickness, all hair holds a lot of moisture. If you don’t fully dry it and then go into a humid environment, it will only make frizz much more likely.

Go prepared

If you are prone to frizzy hair on holidays, go prepared. Bring shampoo and conditioner specifically tailored to frizzy hair. It is also a great idea to bring an anti-frizz serum too. When you are sure your hair is 100% dry using the serum will also minimize the risk of frizz.

Create a barrier

Chlorine can also be extremely drying on the hair which can lead to frizz. Before you get into the pool, try applying a hair treatment to damp hair which will create a barrier between your hair and the chlorine and hopefully keep some moisture locked in.

Coconut oil

A multi-purpose product like no other. If you have forgotten to bring oil or your usual go to, pick up some coconut oil. You could apply it during the day to give your hair a little treatment or in the evening to keep the frizz at bay.

Embrace it

There is absolutely nothing wrong with frizzy hair. Natural is beautiful. If you couldn’t be bothered with trying to tame it then fully embrace it. Find hairstyles that work and know you are beautiful whatever way your hair falls.
