Aldi Lacura Body Butter Living Spit of The Body Shop: But Smells Like A Plastic Bag

Sometimes you just have to laugh at the brass balls on Aldi.  Their new limited edition body butters are part of their Mother's Day Pampering range and are  THE LIVING SPIT of The Bodyshop's iconic body butter tubs.

You did a little double take there didn't you?  Go on, admit it.

So alike looking in fact that they just screamed for a comparison.  After all the Aldi version is €2.99 and The Body Shop version is almost ten times the price - with other comparable tubs of body butter at similar eye watering prices.

I love body butters - I always have one on the go and along with The Body Shop I quite often have a tin of L'Occitane too.

So could the Lacura version join these hallowed ranks?  You never know with Aldi (look at the success of the Aldi Touche Eclat) and some of their other cosmetics aren't too shabby either.

But unfortunately this body butter doesn't cut the mustard.  I actually wouldn't mind that it's much thinner than other body butters - you'll find that butters from the luxe brands are packed with shea butter and are much more dense and creamy, but lets face it for €2.99 you just can't expect that quality of ingredient.  Unforch though this butter just doesn't smell good.  There's a bang of plastic bag and a strong synthetic smell and it's this that really lets it down.

There were a couple of other bits in the Mammy's Day collection though that I thought you might be interested in.  Now does this hand cream remind you of anything?

And there's a CC Cream too (€7.99) - go in and try it out on the back of your hand and see what you think.

All of this lot, plus face masks and skin creams went on sale on Sunday and are available as a limited collection until stocks last.

What do you reckon?  Body Butter travesty or nice try?
