The Chocolate Manicure at Skinfull Affairs - it's as scrumptious as it sounds

Skinfull Affairs, the conscientious skincare store and salon offer a chocolate manicure. So, we have to try it, obvs

Despite my near obsession with having a water-tight skincare routine, I often forget to look my hands. Silly, really, as I work with them all the time, so they should be well kept.

It was a real treat, therefore, to visit Skinfull Affairs on Wicklow Street in Dublin to try their signature chocolate manicure. I wasn't quite sure what to expect - was the chocolate going to be hot? Would I be able to lick it off? - but was intrigued to find out. After Easter, I'm trying to reduce my chocolate consumption; hopefully, chocolate can be just as satisfying on me rather than in me.

The salon is a little haven of peace and tranquillity in the middle of Dublin City. If you haven't already heard of it, it focuses on using and selling a more natural product without compromising on the quality. They source high quality, natural and cruelty-free products from all corners of the globe.

My treatment started out with a nail file. I had mentioned to my therapist that I wasn't great with dark colours on my hands as they were so small, so she suggested a more oval nail shape to elongate my fingers.

Next, she grated some white cocoa into a bowl of warm water to soak my fingers in after applying a cuticle gel. After soaking, she worked her magic on my dry and cracked cuticles. The next step was a chocolate hand scrub; this removes all the dead skin from your hands leaving them super soft and able to absorb more moisturiser. After washing the scrub from my hands, I choose my nail colour from the Ella and Mila range. Before applying it, my hands were massaged with a  hydrating moisturiser to bring them back to life.

Ella and Mila is a '7-free' product which means it is free from the seven most toxic ingredients usually found in nail varnish. It is also vegan and animal cruelty-free. Its formula is also quick drying and chip resistant and the packaging is very cute.

After the base coat, my therapist applied two layers of my chosen shade, Gray Skies. I love this shade. It's a bit different from my usual pink/natural tone, but not too in your face.
