Tried and Tested: Catrice Denim Divine collection

When I heard that Catrice’s new SS16 limited edition collection was called Denim Divine, my first thoughts were of '90s Wrangler adverts and that iconic Kate Moss for Calvin Klein poster.

But would that translate into a sea of blue eye shadows? Perhaps a brown lip pencil? Thankfully the answer is no; while there are a couple of blue products in the collection, they aren’t pastel or royal blue, but much more wearable shades.

Limited Edition Denim Divine collection: Bronzer // Lip Gloss // Eye Shadow Palette // Eyeliner // Blusher

I’ll kick things off with the new eye palette (€7.50). Encased in stylish rose gold packaging that is very Charlotte Tilbury-esque sits six shades that range from nude to a bright coral and then a dusky grey/blue. All of them will work for day or night, are very silky to blend, and have decent pigment as well.

The last shade, in particular, is the one I really like because believe it or not, dusky blue/grey makes green and blue eyes really pop and is a great alternative to black for daytime. Following through with the darker denim shade is the new liquid liner, (€3.50) which has a small brush applicator that makes creating thin, neat lines nice and easy. Below you can see both the shadows & liner in action on my lovely model Simona.

As a contrast to the neutral and blue tones in the collection, there are a couple of pops of colour which come in the form of the embossed pink powder blush (€4.50), and coral lipgloss (€3.95), both of which are lovely, summery tones and would look great with a tan.

Of course, you could always fake a tan, or top up a natural colour with the bronzer (€5.50) if you so wished. What I like about this one is that it isn’t too matte; I’ve found in the past some bronzers can sometimes stick or drag, leaving things looking a bit patchy – this one is silkier, with a more satin finish.

Aside from the eye palette, it was the nail colours which really caught my attention, especially Women’s Cut, a vibrant coral that is destined to be on my toes come the warmer months and Dark Denim Blue because I love a decent dark polish no matter what time of year.

The Denim Divine collection is available from now until mid-may only.
