Sally Hansen Diamond Shine Base & Top Coat: Not a girl's best friend

I had thought that myself and Sally Hansen had reached some kind of gentleman's agreement. After years of not rating them at all (and absolutely hating some of their nail products) I found myself swayed by some things I hadn't yet tried.

I loved their handcream and found the bright red polish quite delectable on toenails. (Plus I love the cute little diamante on the bottles of the Diamond Strength range.)  With Lynnie giving the Insta-Dri Top Coat a lukewarm review though I should have been warned.

This base coat has totally and utterly wrecked my nails. And I mean totally. They've split and peeled way down the nail. I know it's the SH because my nails were fine beforehand - and it's exactly what happened with the Nailgrowth Miracle.  Though I know the formulas have changed and scanning the ingredients before I painted my nails lavishly with the base coat I was reassured - no formaldehyde or other nasties. Though I must admit the ingredients list on a nail bottle is completely sciencey and undecipherable at the best of times.  So there's still something lurking in there that totally destroyed them.
