Tan Trials '10: Wow Brown Ready To Glo

wow brown ready to glo

Developed by Irish gals Frances Brennan and Donna Ledwidge, you'll probably be familiar with the Wow Brown name if you're in the D4 neck of the woods - their tanning boutique is located above Empty Pockets Eddie Rockets in Donnybrook. I used to pass it on the bus twice a day, so when a bottle of their Ready To Glo express self tan, €19.95, arrived through the letterbox a couple of weeks ago I was eager to give it a whirl.

One of those tinted liquid formulations of which I'm so very fond, I had a good feeling about Ready to Glo from the off. It's 100ml in size, so complies nicely with airport security regulations, and the packaging comes complete with a screw-off spray nozzle.

Now, this simple addition is a bit of a genius move - the most frequent complaints I hear about liquid tanners are how messy they can be when trying to pour them out onto a tanning mitt and how easily they can be knocked over when open. Spraying rather than decanting the tanning solution onto a mitt makes the application process decidedly more fuss free!

The medium/dark shade is frighteningly molasses-coloured in the bottle, but it goes on very easily and evenly to give an instant golden brown glow that didn't actually look overly dark once on my skin. Drying time is quick as a flash - I got dressed after about three minutes - and I didn't notice much of a tell-tale tan whiff as it developed (although I didn't sleep in it, which is usually when things start to get majorly pong-y.)

Ready To Glo is a tan that you could totally slap on right before heading out the door to big night out, and let it do double duty as an instant tanner for the evening while the longer-lasting tan develops underneath.

When I showered off the guide colour that night (about eight hours later), I was left with a streak-free deep tan which was gorgeous and practically perfect in every way, and wore off evenly after about five days without receiving any special treatment whatsoever.

My one gripe with this was that it settled into pores I didn't even know I had across my chest, so low-cut tops were out for a few days while my polka-dotted front recovered!
