Tried and Tested: Sally Hansen New Miracle Gel

Do you love getting manicured mitts with gels or gel polishes in the salon? Well then, you are going to be mighty interested in hearing all about the new Sally Hansen Miracle Gel and their claims that it's the next best thing to a professional salon manicure, but with the added benefit that you can do it yourself at home. (We like it already).

I put the new gel and gel topcoat to the test, here's how I got on:

You don't need a base coat with this polish. It's done in two easy steps:

  • Colour
  • Top Coat

I found that the polish was super pigmented even from the first coat, which I applied evenly and thinly. It was really easy to spread over the nail plate and easy to control so it didn't run into the cuticle bed or over my skin around the nails.

Once I applied a second colour coat, it was time for the Miracle Gel top coat. This added a beautiful glossy shine to the nails and finished it off perfectly. They really did look like the gels you would get in a salon!

Pros:

  • Lovely range of shades
  • Dries really quick  and it dries in the light so no lamp needed
  • Over and done with in just two easy steps
  • Stronger than a regular nail polish and can last up to 14 days

Cons:

  • Strong smell. I'm used with working with gels but in comparison to other products I've used, I did notice quite a strong odour with this which made my eyes water. If you are going to be using these polishes, definitely use them in a well ventilated room.

The Verdict:

The pros outweigh the cons when it comes to this product and overall I was very impressed and at €9.99, I will definitely be buying a few more shades.
