It's all in the shoulder detail this spring – here's how to wear it

Frills, straps, cut out or completely off the shoulder, the high street and your favourite celebrities are all over this trend.

Baring a little shoulder has always been a winner but this season it is time to go all out. We've seen it on casual t-shirts, dresses, jumpsuits, playsuits - you name it. If you're going for a top, pair it with jeans or shorts for the ultimate casual look whilst looking effortlessly chic. A complete off the shoulder (with a tight fit) works well with a long skirt if you want to dress it up come the evening. A high wasted jean or skirt is the perfect way to compliment a bare shoulder, see Emily Ratajkowski's stunning example.

As it's all about those shoulders, a plain pattern is usually a safe bet, but don’t rule out some detail if you think it looks great. Unfortunately, this isn't a friend to those broad shouldered girls out there so best avoid it. We've picked some of our favourite high street offerings but there is plenty more out there.

A little tip: cut out shoulders can look odd and shapeless on the hanger, but try it on before you write it off, it'll look totally different on you!
