Three micro-fine setting powders to perfectly polish off that no makeup look we crave
The idea of a no-makeup look sends some people into a cold sweat. Others see it as the ultimate way to wear makeup. Regardless of how you feel, we can all agree on one thing: it can be a tricky one to get right. In general, it’s all about finding the right balance between looking natural and fresh faced but not bland and featureless. Micro-fine setting powders can help with that.
One of the most important elements is, of course, skin. We all want a flawless, smooth, radiant complexion and while some people have a great canvas to work with naturally, others among us need a bit more help. Using a bit more coverage in either your foundation or concealer isn’t necessarily a no-no when it comes to creating a natural makeup. But, if you want to keep it looking fresh, then a micro-fine setting powder will be your best friend.
We’ve rounded up three favourites that have been HD camera approved so you’ll be ready for that close-up in no time.
- Delilah Loose Powder €54
Fans of loose powder will love this. Pretty packaging aside, it is one of the finest powders I’ve come across. It melts into skin for a truly no-makeup finish whether applied with a brush or the accompanying puff. Cleverly, there’s a little net built into the pot so that you always get the right amount of product and none is wasted. I also love that all the delilah products are paraben free and work well for sensitive skin too.
- NYX Studio Finishing Powder €11.25
For just over a tenner this is a bargain if ever there was one. The pure mineral silica powder sets your face for the whole day leaving it matte but not flat. As with any of the translucent/white powders, a little goes a long way; buffing it on with a kabuki brush usually gives the most natural finish.
- Estee Lauder Lucidity Pressed Powder €37
This is the powder for that subtle lit-from-within glow. The silky-texture gives an airbrushed, high-resolution finish while looking and feeling like you’re wearing no makeup at all. It’s available in three shades: light, light/medium and medium.
