3 ways to remove your makeup when you're in a rush

How to remove your makeup the quick way - and not a makeup wipe in sight.

There are times when the thought of taking off your makeup is worse than the thought of getting up on a Monday morning. We've found a classic Beaut article, originally published in 2016, that will help make the makeup removal process that little bit more bearable. Especially for the end of a long, summer night...

Removing our makeup at night time is often a long, drawn-out process. There are those times when we procrastinate until we get too tired - and then we fall asleep. With our makeup still on. We all know that sleeping with makeup on is one of the worst habits we can get ourselves in to.

Why?

According to our body clocks, different body cells are more active at different times of the day, and skin cells do their repair work most effectively at night. Research shows that skin cell regeneration almost doubles at night, peaking between 11 pm and 4 am. Production of collagen is boosted, harmful free radicals are destroyed and cell damage is rectified.

That is why sleeping with your makeup on is a cardinal sin, according to the Church of Skin. But, with our lives getting busier and busier, and time going faster and faster, it can be a job we can often put off doing properly.

Here are my top three tips for quick and easy makeup removal that will nip your sleeping in your makeup habit in the bud - for good.

Tip 1

la roche-posay remove your makeup

La Roche Posay - Toleriane €16.49

La Roche Posay Toleriane are individually packed 5 ml eye makeup removers. They're made from a formula of Sodium Hyaluronate, traditionally used in ophthalmic surgery, that instantly dissolves makeup, leaving perfectly cleansed eyelids and a feeling of freshness. They dissolve even waterproof eye makeup and are oil-free so you are not left with an oily residue on your skin.

I use about half of one of these on a cotton pad to remove the makeup on my whole face. They are also fab for travelling as you can just bring a few and they take up very little room in your luggage. The individually packaged formula keeps the product fresh until you are ready to use it leaving no room for cross contamination.

Tip 2

micellar cleansing water remove your makeup

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water €7.99

If you just can't get out of the habit of wipes, micellar water is a slightly better solution. Use it either on a cotton pad or even on a dry face cloth if you're in a face wipe mode, and just wipe clean.

Just make sure to finish by splashing your face with water to remove any excess product.

Tip 3

cleanse-off-mitt remove your makeup

Cleanse Off Mitt €4.75

This one is probably the best out of the lot. With a Cleanse Off Mitt, you don't need a product other than water to remove your makeup quickly and effectively. The secret is in the microfiber cloth which, in conjunction with water, penetrates oil and makeup and removes it.

It also lightly exfoliates the skin and doesn't disrupt the natural PH balance. After your makeup removal, you rinse it clean of any makeup and hang it out to dry for the next day.

Hands up who has slept with their makeup on? How do you take yours off?
