5 white dresses perfect for the "second day of the wedding" or, you know, whenever

High street white dresses for the newlywed who wants to keep that party going the next day

These days, if you're going to a wedding on a Friday or Saturday, there's going to be a 'second day'. Whether you as a guest go is up to you; but the bride, she kinda has to be there.

For my second day, we had a family brunch and met a few friends for drinks in a pub. Nothing major. (It couldn't be; our wedding was, basically, a session.) I wore a dress I had worn to a wedding the year before. It was cream based with a bird print. Not wedding-y enough to offend the bride and just right for the second day.

A second-day outfit is not a requirement - hey, I wore my Day 2 dress twice before - but if you are in the market for that kind of thing, let me point you in the right direction.

I've chosen white dresses because, from experience, that's what the bride wants. Of course, there are no rules, and you can wear whatever colour you like. If you're all tanned and glowy, however, white is the perfect colour to set it off.

I love this dress. I would buy it to wear in real life if I was taller and if I wore tan. It fits in with the bridal trend for long sleeves, but the high hemline stops it from being too modest. The lace cut-outs give the illusion of skin, but you definitely won't spend all night adjusting it. The material could be a little heavy for the summertime, but if you're getting married in Ireland, it will probably be just right.

Another V by Very dress (they have an amazing selection of occasion-wear at the moment, including bridesmaid dresses), this one stands out for the flashes of colour in the form of gorgeous printed flowers. Again, with lace detail, this is sexy but chic.

Another dress I really want for myself, but I've no other events to wear it this summer, except for weddings. The upside-down sweetheart neckline is a beautiful touch. It's easy to wear and not as in-your-face bridal as white dresses can be (but I'm still not wearing it as a wedding guest!).

Topshop €68

You know what, maybe you do what to feel a bit sexy the day after your wedding. The plunging neckline might be rather difficult to keep an eye on, but let me tell you, that sleeve detail is the most flattering on arms.

Debut €105

The fluted hem is the stand out thing about this dress. It adds length in an interesting way. This dress is perfect for wearing to a romantic dinner on your honeymoon, too.
